Richard -- you may be right about Minnesota, but you sure are wrong in general. Here's a map of how my local area, on the fulsome eastern side of the San Francisco Bay, voted for Clinton in '92. If you remember that far back, our hero polled far less than a majority nationally, a bare 51% in California and around 65% in the county. However, a quick glance at swdb.berkeley.edu should put paid your assertion that, "this doesnt happen. Even in the most liberal areas you might see 80/20." It does happen, right in my back yard. -mb
