Ayn Rand believed in reason,individualism and capitalism as opposed to the doctrines of mysticism,altruism and collectivism. To her capitalism was not about money it was about the power of the individual to master his own destiny.
In an interesting observation she noted the following
1) Both the collectivist state and religion preach altruism as the goal of life
2) Both have used violence and force to compel others to their belief system
3) The greatest threat to the above is the mind of man
She stated the above far more eloquently.
Here is a quote from her book FOR THE NEW INTELLECT
