Democrats to appeal Florida recount ruling

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (CNN) -- Democrats announced today they are appealing to the Florida Supreme Court a ruling that went against them in the Florida presidential vote recount fight.

A state judge said there is nothing wrong with Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris' decision to reject hand recounts sought by Democrats. The only additional votes Harris will allow are the roughly 2,800 overseas absentee ballots, which counties must receive by midnight tonight.

Leon County Circuit Court Judge Terry Lewis ruled today that Harris' actions do not abuse her authority. (More on Lewis' decision)
