Jeff - Thanx for the input.

As previously stated, my situation is more one of what do you do when the automation fails and there is no effective backup. What happened to me was that I made the mistake of day trading a volatile stock with a brokerage that had been breaking down on a regular basis.

I somehow assumed (don't say it!) that if there was a problem, they would follow through in an honest and responsible manner. If for no other reason than it is simply good business.

The system broke down at a critical time (although I've never had a problem buying a stock at E*Trade - just selling). The telephone was out of commission at the same time. When finally reached, I was stalled, reassured and then finally dumped after waiting for them to review what had happened.

I doubt I'll ever get any positive result from discussing my problems with E*Trade here, but hopefully someone else will be spared similar mistreatment. I'll be moving my account as soon as I can reasonably liquidate my positions held there. They won't miss me. Hopefully, they'll miss the many investors who must be pulling out along with me.

Regards,

Fred Weiss
