Sigh... I think we need an acronym for "you don't get it Scumbria". P4 will still run yesterdays software, which you are so fond of, just fine with no recompile. Tomorrows applications, which you will have no need for, will be compiled with P4 optimizations. They will be running at up to 2GHz on Intel's existing .18u process, far beyond where Athlon runs out of gas. You will dust off the old Intel bashers handbook and revisit the Pentium 60MHz introduction and point out that it's hardly any faster than a i486. You need to look to the future Scumbria, not the past.
