Hi Greg,

Re: Believe me, those three electors(if they exist) will become three of the most famous people in the world. And for some, fame is incredibly intoxicating, especially when money is on the horizon.

Fascinating study of human nature. I hadn't considered this aspect before, but I think you are on to something here.
The shock would probably be too much for the country to handle. We've never had a single instance in our nation's history of an errant elector making a difference. But this election would be the one to do it in.

Just spotted at CNN:

"Federal court hands Bush campaign setback"

In a shocking development, this election dispute is going to be resolved lawfully, carefully and intelligently, just as we've decided the vast majority of simple vote re-count cases over the last 200 years. The system is working just as I expected it to. Not that I'm calling a winner here.

But the ace-in-the-hole for the Democrats, and the card they haven't shown is the section of Florida Election law that states that the court has the responsibility to statistically correct the vote in any county where it can be clearly shown that the vote did not reflect the will of the people. Clearly, we haven't heard the last of the Buchanan/Palm Beach County, should the absentees and hand re-count not resolve for Gore. It ain't over til it's over.

Best, Ray
