To All, Whew....All caught up. Now, how about getting back to some research? Just returned home and reads as if I stepped into a war zone!

To DKMax: In reply to post #2924, this is not a Creo plate you are inquiring on, but is the plate we have highlighted here that is made by Kodak and imaged on Creo platesetters. The press runs "on the order of a million copies" are not brand new technology. This artical is now over a year old. The Kodak plate is a good thermal plate and is currently the only thermal choice for printers doing long run (100k - 1M impressions) work (i.e., publications, packaging, etc). However, they require pre- and post-processing equipment, costing the printer and customer time, lots of work room & and space and about $50K expense for all the processing equipment needed to use the Kodak plate.

The mention of the spray-on the cylinder, re-usable plate technology is different than the plate technology and is not yet seen in the marketplace; probably at least another 1-2 years away, even if it ever gets acceptance. If it is successfully developed, it could be a competitor to the Presstek way of imaging.
