Yogi, Quite a possibility: War, political uncertainty and economic upheaval
AEM ran a pretty good tape today, excluding the mandatory kick in the ba*ls at the end of day, on good volume. Relative to the rest of the XAU it was even better! AEM finished up .15 in Toronto which was up about an eighth over the US price, but on fairly light volume.
I had to sell some AEM shares last week to make more room in the port for TESOF. You and Robert can thank me later, its been going up ever since, LOL. Don't feel bad for me though, I have large holdings in both AEM and TESOF.
Funny that I end up with my two largest positions in two Canadian companies.
US investors were not interested in selling TESOF at anything less than 8 7/8 on another very light volume day. Toronto ended down at 13.5 which is about 20cents US off the US price. Small traders were doing profit taking in the morning in Toronto in the morning (avg share sales @ 800)and taking the price down there, but some big buying came in later in the day at those lower prices.
A couple of energy notes, man on the street stuff. Went into a Four Seasons store. They sell fireplaces and stoves and I've been thinking about replacing our fireplace insert which has served us so well (and provided many pleasant winter evenings by the firelight) for many years, but is just getting worn out. Nearly everything was LP/Natural Gas. No wood stoves, no fireplace coal or wood inserts. That's all too much work these days I suppose. Just hit the switch and burn some of that cheap (Used to BE CHEAP) gas. Judging from folks at work, only a few diehards (c'est moi, ggg) burn wood anymore.
While traffic at the Malls is down on weeknights (but not on weekends!) the traffic on the roads here in our locale is not down any. Higher prices for gas and diesel are being ignored and I hardly hear anyone complaining about the prices anymore. It certainly hasn't led to any reduced driving, especially by all those gray haired little old ladies who keep getting in front of me!
Conservation is SO old fashioned!
