Hammer: "Re what conclusions do I draw from the poll?"

I will accept no poll unless it's endorsed by Rush to Judgment Limbaugh, namely Portrait of America or Battleground.

Just kidding.

A couple things struck me odd about the poll I posted. (1.) 56 percent said yes, include hand counts to determine the winner in Florida. (2.) 54 percent would rather accept the certified count plus the overseas ballots ... as opposed to 39 percent who say hand-count the whole state plus the overseas ballots. Mixed signals. Public is confused. However, I think it's significant (and to me a bit surprising) that 56 percent agree with the concept of a hand count to determine the true winner. This means that a percentage of Republicans also agree that a hand count is the fairest way to truly determine the winner.

At this point let me opine that the Republicans may have made a huge mistake by not agreeing to hand-count the entire state. Here's why:

Bush will probably have a 700-vote lead after the overseas ballots are counted on Saturday.

The Dems are looking to pick up just 300 votes from each of the recounted counties.

In other words, Dems are looking to win this thing by only a 200-vote margin!

Truly amazing.
