How ignorant. Let me take the opportunity to burst your festering bubble.

McCain was popular with big media for the simple reason he was portrayed as an heroic maverick. "We like you, John. You don't seem like the other republicans."

John McCain is a genuine hero - almost beyond imagining. I remember well the day he went down. I was a duty officer at Pacific HQ and was part of the chain that brought the awful news to his father, then CINCPAC.

Beyond his grim fate as a POW, John McCain's history is like W's, in spades.

He was a poor student at the Naval Academy who stood near the bottom of his class. It is quite likely he would have been sent packing but for his father's and grandfather's naval legacies.

And, when it comes to being a wild-ass, rootin-tootin young party animal, John could match or beat any Bush escapade.

They both had the balls to strap tons of crackling fire and iron to their respective asses and give it a go. They both attract people in a natural way.

Not much difference, really. Just because the media shoves it down your throat, doesn't mean you have to swallow.
