Pomp... "We offered a statewide recount, you didn't want it...."

Pomp, You know better than that. A statewide hand recount is not permitted and that's why Gore suggested it. A statewide hand recount is not provided for in Florida law and is thereby prohibited. This was just more Gore Democrat BS. Everybody knows this. Even the Florida Supreme Court would have a hard time permitting this, even if they wanted to. They would in effect be overturning laws that were enacted by the state legislature. They do not have the authority to do this.

I wish I knew what the final outcome of this mess would be. Like everybody else, I can only speculate. I think the FL court will rule that the hand recount should not have been permitted in the first place. At first a recount was called for and it was done by machine without malfunction. A hand recount was then asked for. Permission should not have been granted for the hand recount since there was no mechanical failure or manipulation of the voting devices or the ballots. Since this hand recount should not have been granted then it has to be ignored. We will then have Bush as our new President. Gore will fight on with no success, while continuing to create a worse image of himself than he already has. Democrats will shun him in 2004. His political career will be done. Hillary will most likely be their choice, depending on her success and conduct in the senate.
