Exit poles measure voter intent and voter intent in Florida was in favor of Gore.
So now where's the problem and where's the "fix"?
So next time a drunk kills someone's loved one in a car wreck let them walk free because their stated ‘intent’ was not to hurt anyone?
What if someone started to punch the card and changed their mind thinking, ‘No I’m not gonna even vote for president, too confusing.’ With millions of votes, this could be the case in a few instances. How do you know that was their intent? Invite The Amazing Keskin in to mind read it? Margin of error is part of the system counties and states have. If you do not like it, and I do not, FIX IT FOR NEXT TIME. How about a touch screen with photos of candidates. After you touch it, it even states, ‘This is your choice, press here if correct.’ No Internet, just a local tally machine. I’d even let the Federal government take some of our tax dollars to help fund it nation wide.
Facts. Actions. Following the rules and laws. Right, wrong or indifferent toward them is an individual judgement call. I did not cast my vote, along with 98 million other Americans to have it potentially, in effect nullified by a partisan move to recount four heavily democratic counties where Gore already had a near 2 to 1 lead, by hand, because people en mass can't follow directions.
The ballot was designed by democrats. It was published in all local papers prior to the election. It was mailed in sample form to all residents. It stated on it if you make an error ask for a new ballot and one will be given to you. It was approved by democrats.
That many people screwed up with it isn’t my fault or yours. Is it theirs? We love now-a-days to say, 'naw, nobody is at fault accept the party I don't like, it's their fault.' Horsefeathers.
They already had two machine recounts. Bush won both recounts. In the rest of the country, it was done by machine and it stands, because of wider margins no one bothers to recount.
Fair? Recount the whole country by hand and I won't complain about fairness, I will say that it is crazy and not necessary.
Gore is not a winner, he is a whiner. I use to be democrat, no longer. I always vote my mind. Gore and Clinton have gone miles down the road of becoming the hallmark New Centurions. In old Rome, as the elite became more corrupt, they elected to change the laws rather then to alter their preferences or behavior. The Centurions were the cops of the day, but what they enforced, for the elite became ever more permissive. Law became very elastic and the fabric of the society did as well. I keep my nose clean and work hard to be ethical and honest in my work and relationships. I resent Gore telling me, as an American what he thinks my interpretation of the pursuit of truth is all about regarding election results. It may be just my opinion, but it is mine and does not match his. Law gave the Secretary of the State of Fl. the right to call the election with the two machine recounts and overseas ballots. Lawyers, courts, and special interest teams, fighting a personal battle to get their guy in office blocked it. The team of new Centurions.
You and I see this differently. God bless you. Behind the image, over this current election issue, Mr. Gore is not the nice guy fighting for you and me he says he is. He is out for Mr. Gore. So is Bush? Sure, but I appreciate his style as being more honest, currently more lawful and common sense then allowing changing rules of how to read chad to guide a rag tag manual recount Mr. Gore hopes with all his heart and soul to win.
Nuff said for me. Opinion will never sway you or me, and we see ‘facts’ as we wish. That is why we need LAW for important issues. Do you really like the teams of attorneys running the show right now? I guess Clinton was right, this IS what it IS now.
Hey, let them both be copresidents as another on TMF suggested, just like Chello/Excite.
Call them President Bore.
