ATTENTION MR PRESIDENT ELECT: The legal Florida vote is in and you have won. During your campaign, you constantly told us to choose you because you were a leader.
Well, it's time to get off your butt and lead! This may be a risky strategy but the likely alternative is that your victory will be slowly pissed away.
Start by going before the camera's and stating that Florida officials have announced that all overseas election ballots are in and counted. When these are added to the already certified totals, the margin of our victory will be close but it will be clear under Florida law.
Comment also, Mr President Elect, that you are concerned about reports that an effort was apparently made to disqualify a large number of votes from our servicemen and women guarding our interests a long way from home. At first glance, it seems that over a thousand of these voices have been silenced.
Note the irony of the same people who have acted eagerly to disenfranchise our front-line soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines are continuing an extraordinary effort to reconstruct votes previously non-existent in election results and the legal recount that followed.
Note your grave concern that party activists from all over the country are working night and day to influence events in Florida and, in fact, to overturn the legal results of an election.
Say that it distresses you deeply that the a court in Florida has acted without petition from anyone and without comment on a lower court ruling to stop the election by arbitrarily interfering with the legal duties of a member of executive branch of the Florida government.
If you believe, as I do, that this election is over, contact your local officials, your local news media and let your voices be heard.
And, I personally call on my opponent, Vice President Al Gore to recognize the finality of the legal vote.
