From the thread header: The Democrats unfortunately are not telling the whole truth, and in many cases are telling outright lies. It's time for some statemanship, and Gore is showing none.
What untruths would that be? What lies would that be? Time for statesmanship? Tell that to Mr. Bush!
Bush is scrapping for the Presidency by filing the first legal action - which was to try to stop the manual recount dead in its tracks while he is ahead. You call that statemanship??
And talking about untruths and lies: Isn't it convenient of Mr. Bush's side to claim that the manual recount in Florida is unconstitutional when the nearly exact same standards are part of Texas' election code state statutes? Isn't it convenient that the "light test" the Republicans so vehemently ridiculed in Florida is specified in Texas' election code state statutes?
Here is the description of Texas standards, which include a "light test."

SUBCHAPTER E. PROCESSING RESULTS AT CENTRAL COUNTING STATION § 127.130. Manual Counting
(a) Electronic system ballots that are not to be counted automatically and the write-in votes not counted at the polling places shall be counted manually at the central counting station.

(c) The procedure for manual counting is the same as that for regular paper ballots to the extent practicable. The manager is responsible for the manual counting of ballots at the central counting station.
(d) Subject to Subsection (e), in any manual count conducted under this code, a vote on a ballot on which a voter indicates a vote by punching a hole in the ballot may not be counted unless:
(1) at least two corners of the chad are detached;
(2) light is visible through the hole;
(3) an indentation on the chad from the stylus or other object is present and indicates a clearly ascertainable intent of the voter to vote; or
(4) the chad reflects by other means a clearly ascertainable intent of the voter to vote.
(e) Subsection (d) does not supersede any clearly ascertainable intent of the voter.

CHAPTER 214. COUNTING PROCEDURES
And isn't it convenient that Mr. Bush's side is fighting a manual recount tooth and nail when he himself signed a bill in Texas that states manual recount is prefereable? And isn't it convenient that they don't want to see any of the thousands of rejected ballots in the counties undergoing a manual recount included when the Republicans themselves included them in the mandatory recount in Seminole County?

Recount Irregularities - As you are aware heavily Republican Seminole County Florida was the last to finish it's mandatory recount. The margin was down to about 229 and Seminole County votes added another 98 (net) to Bush. The reason for Seminole County's delay is that they voluntarily provided the complete recount, INCLUDING REJECTED BALLOTS, sought in Palm Beach etc.
Yesterday Afternoon local TV news carried pictures and an interview with a member of the Seminole County election board (Supervisor of Elections?) and local REPUBLICAN CONGRESSMAN DAN MICA who was present and interviewed. They were running each individual ballot through the voting machines. ANY BALLOT THE MACHINE REJECTED WAS THEN EXAMINED BY HAND, AND IF THE WILL OF THE VOTER COULD BE DETERMINED… THEY PREPARED A NEW BALLOT TO REPLACE THE ORIGINAL REJECTED BALLOT AND ADDED THIS NEWLY CREATED BALLOT TO THE COUNT. Naturally in a county Bush carried almost 2-1 this resulted in a net increase of Bush votes.
Now in the Republican Seminole County Florida, under the leadership of CONGRESSMAN DAN MICA (R-Fla) acting on behalf of Bush. The REJECTED VOTES WERE EXAMINED AND ADDED TO THE OFFICIAL TOTALS.
And isn't it convenient that some duplicated absentee ballots where sent out?
