Hi Big!
I like Texas a lot,
but I have a foreign accent and it seems to be almost impossible for 'Texas Texans' to understand me.
('New York Texans' and other 'Out-State Texans' manage better. Due to having had to struggle with understanding other accents, I guess.)
Last time I was in Texas I carried a pad of paper and a pen to write notes and did a lot of pointing and nodding.
I think some folks thought I was a mute.
But regardless of those difficulties, I think Texans are some of the most outgoing and friendly people I've ever met, with a great outlook on the world and a remarkable sense of humor. Texas culture is tops with me. The stories! The colorful use of language! The Food!!! Texas is Great !!!
But even if I did own a bait+tackle shop, or even a liquor store, I doubt if any self-respecting Texan could be taken with an old spinster like myself (pushing 30) who is not only acerbic and sharp-tongued, but in a heavy foreign accent to boot!

Small point of correction, Big---
I didn't say I was 'rich'
I said I'd bet I made more than 3x more than Slider.
That is --I'm richer than him. Not Rich Rich.
I'd Never say "I'm Rich" in a place where Texans are hanging out!!!!

But if you think I'm just shooting-off my mouth, you could back Slider's hand.
That's the way it's done, right?
You don't call the man on the other side of the poker table a liar.
You call the bet.

I don't want to fuss with Slider.
But when somebody talks down at you, what do you Texans do?
--I'd bet you don't say "Yessir."

regards,
diana
(Actually, it's 6' 1 1/4" but I don't claim that last 1/4" out of modesty.)
