Sadly, this excerpt from your SSB quote (thanks BTW) would seem to validate the Comdex Tech's statements.

Management anticipates quantities of commercial handsets to be available beginning in 3Q/01 and intends to seed the market similar to the way it deployed Wireless Web. Full national 1X is planned for 2Q/02 with selective deployments beginning in the third quarter.

They don't plan to sell 1x handsets until after they start implementing 1x. I don't get it.

BTW, in reference to another snippet from the SSB writeup

Regardless of what we call 1X, the upgrade will double voice capacity for the company and provide a shared 144 kbps channel for its customers with advertised end-user speeds of around 70 kbps.

I asked about the performance of existing 1x in Korea, and wanted to know specifically what throughput a typical user would get, irrespective of the quoted 144 kbps rate. I was told 64 kbps, in good agreement with the SSB number.
