The PPro was the world's highest performance Integer processor when introduced and marked Intel's first entry into the lucrative SMP marketplace where they made a ton of money. All P6 generation processors have been SMP capable from inception (I type this on my dual processor Celeron system). In fact Intel has had a real problem turning it off(again, I type this on my dual processor Celeron system). Meanwhile, AMD keeps falling flat on their face trying to get the simplest SMP system working. Looks like it is simply too much for them.
