County grubbing was never intended to be an endgame for the Presidency. Facing a situation, needing to hand-count ballots, to be sure, for the American people, to hear their voice, and knowing handcounting was vote recovery method that could only be fair if applied to all counties where both candidates had majorities, Al Gore asked for unfair advantage from the get go.

He had 72hrs to say,

"Obviously, we shoud have a handcount to be sure and fair, I owe that to my voters. Folks, handcounting recovers votes machines lost let me explain what I've been told... . If I were to do that in just counties that voted mostly for me, I'd gain on Mr. Bush for SURE, so my campaign is requesting ALL counties to begin handcounting as soon as reasonably possible. Thank-you."

Then he'd a had a lock on the fair way. If he just hadn't missed the deadline.

If he had used his fairbone, we wouldn't be in this mess today.
