I heard a side-splitting piece on PBS while driving home this evening. An author of spy/crime novels has cooked up the "probable" outcome of the 2000 Presidential Election. It goes something like this:

- Rabid anti-Castro zealots from Miami attack a car carrying the last box of absentee ballots and hold the ballots hostage. The anti-Castro unit demands the return of Elian Gonzales.
- Castro's undercover people steal the box and ship it to Havana. Castro will only return the ballots if he is allowed to count them in the White House in front of the a national tv audience.
-Castro and his assistants (carrying the ballot box) enter the White House whereupon they open the box to reveal that it is packed with weapons. They overwhelm the White House Security staff and take control.
- Castro declares himself President and promises everyone Lifetime Free Health Care, free prescriptions, all the Havana cigars they can smoke, and retirement bungalows on the north coast of Cuba.
