Ellen - you are to be commended for attempting to interject some degree of balance into the discussion...prior to being swamped, once again, by highly partisan responses.

It should come as no surprise - and it is indeed revealing - that the central protagonists on this thread, Mason, Carolyn F, and Brian, did not repond to my previous post Message 14840895

(someone stated last night, 'The American people are out of patience with this Democratic BS., and are ready to take their country back.'. Of course, 'The American people are out of patience with this Republican BS., and are ready to take their country back.' is equally valid. And then we have the comments about Warren Christopher being 'an old fart'. Of course Jim Baker stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Christopher on this elegant depiction...and on virtually all other characterizations. This discussion goes on and on and...and OBVIOUSLY no one is EVER going to 'win' - whatever that means. No winner ever, NEVER. FOLKS, THIS ELECTION WAS A TIE. A TIE!)

Once again, if ALL of us can't move beyond this discussion of minutia to a discourse on reconciliation, NONE of us HAVE ANY RIGHT to blame the politicians for the resultant ‘gridlock’. Thus far I can't find one scintilla of evidence on this thread, especially among the protagonists noted above, of meaningful attempts to shed partisan stances. Clearly neither Al Gore nor George Bush are responsible, nor will be responsible, for the inability of this country to make amends.

It's OUR responsibility to come together...and thus far we're ALL continuing to behave like spoiled, bratty children.
