From a conservative viewpoint Weicker was awful. I can understand trying to get him out of there. Maybe Lieberman sounded more conservative back then, I don't know. Buckley has always wanted to ingratiate himself with Manhattan liberals. I'm sure endorsing a Democrat who happens to be Jewish helped him along those lines.
