ECNC report:

just got back from Comdex 10:30pm PST

Arrived at 1pm Friday. No Manny. No Tom Hughes in the building :>(

I asked for Manny. The guy looked me up and down (I was nicely dressed), and said "You must be a shareholder." (well, duh). Sorry..I forgot the names of the few I spoke with.

one gentlemans' badge said something about IT, or programming or something. I asked about the underlying software architecture (SQL7, LTS, or whatever), and all he said was 'I'm not sure'.

Either VERY reluctant to divulge anything, or he wasn't much of a tech guy. He did say that the MAC version wouldn't be out right away. I expressed my displeasure in that statement :>)

at any rate...I was not able to use the cashpad with my ATM card. HOWEVER, I was able to swipe my VISA and buy a t-shirt, which should arrive in a few days. As of right now, the transaction has not appeared on my card (I bank online, and transactions usually appear within a day.) I'm trying to figure out exactly how to verify that this was indeed a 'Bank Eyes Only' transaction...haven't figured it out yet.

NONE THE LESS. I used a cashpad!!! After 18 months of me waiting and believing and all that ECNC has been through...I used one.

It exsists, and it worked.

so...my thoughts on the future...

I remain cautiously optimistic. The concept is indeed valid. Just talking to others hanging around the booth verified that.

The NDFC aquisition is big key. Getting a wide variety of merchants signed up is key. Getting the cashpad into the hands of consumers is paramount.

MY PERSONAL OPINION: I don't want to pay for a cashpad. I want my bank/brokerage/whomever...to provide it for me because it will SAVE THEM MONEY in the long run. Other consumers may feel differently (and, I'm assuming, as more and more merchants/vendors/services sign up to accept Bank Eyes Only transactions, my opinion about paying for it may change.

I will GLADLY use an eCashpad to fund my brokerage acct and buy things online (even with a VISA card until ATM swipes become available.) Just having that one more bit of added online security that a Bank Eyes Only transaction provides is enough for me. I've done a LOT of business online with my VISA and, thankfuly, have not been a fraud victim.

That all said, I must nap. My feet hurt. Vegas is a hoot. But my clothes smell like smoke from the casinos. eyyoo.

I remain cautiously optimisitc and long ECNC. Will probably flip a bit here and there for some $$ to recoup my gambling loss :>)

There are still some questionable aspects of the last few filings that have me concerned. And I'm looking into them.
