Does it do anything when you put a non-bootable floppy in your drive? A working BIOS should tell you something along the line that your system is missing.

Does your system do the Power On Self Test (POST) when it starts?

Systems access BIOS settings through different means. Mine requires me to press F2 before booting. An earlier system responded to Ctrl-Alt-Enter. If you have documentation, find what your system expects. Most BIOS editing has a Default option.

Does your drives make the expected noises when your system starts?

Cheers, PW.
