The TAL API provides for both "requests" and "advises". "Requests" allow you to get a current quote. "Advises" allow you to get streaming updates. Both request and advise data come in through the same asynchronous callback or window-messaging mechanism. Terminology sound vaguely familiar? It was originally DDE-based.
