Buffett is explicitly opposed to short-term market timing. Long-term buy and hold types in BRKA have been net flat since April 1998. So talking about bottom ticking BRKA is pointless, if not heretical. You omit to note that BRKA was 50% down from its high at that point, holding "value stocks" and operating businesses.

Wasn't it all about valuation then?

Let's include all the facts if we are drawing public judgments.

Perhaps BRKA was a fad when it overran its fundamentals and went down 50% before reversing to a level 20% below its old high.

Sound familiar? I think it does. Tell me how fairly valued G was when BRKA hit its peak. It was an overvalued mess. But as you note, the market goes in cycles. Once again we have people proclaiming the end of the story when the book never really ends. Six months from now the story will shift again. Big deal.

As I told you via PM, I am not interested in personal bashing. Just wanted to air another viewpoint with all the facts.

Last post for me here. It's just not a very productive debate. The Stuart nonsense is self-serving tripe for those childish enough to get off on it. It's sad to see people hoping for misery in others.

Not my problem with my returns the past few years.
