rushlimbaugh.com My grandfather and his buddies didn't storm the beaches of Iwo Jima so Bill Clinton could trash our Constitution and Al Gore could steal the presidency.
I blame Trent Lott and Ted Stevens and the other Republican senators who refused to do their constitutional duty, who refused to hold an impeachment trial, and who refused to uphold the rule of law.
Now, nothing seems to matter when it comes to complying with the law. Clinton says he defended the Constitution by committing perjury and obstructing justice - and humiliating his daughter.
And now Gore claims to be defending "the will of the people" with his transparent efforts to steal the presidency. Suddenly, the Electoral College is meaningless. We have never elected a president by popular vote. Every candidate running for president knows they have to win a majority of the Electoral College vote.
But if the Constitution doesn't matter when it comes to impeachment, it doesn't matter when it comes to the Electoral College. And Senator-elect Hillary Clinton says it's time for the Electoral College to go. So, you have a choice. You can stand with James Madison, the main author of the Constitution, or Hillary Clinton. I choose to stand with Madison. I have no doubt Hillary would like to eliminate the perjury statutes as well.
These attacks on the impeachment process and the Electoral College are attacks on the Constitution. It should come as no surprise that within a two-year period, the impeachment clauses and the Electoral College are being disparaged by the left. Both are intended as checks on precisely the kind of lawlessness and demagoguery that is Clinton and Gore.
And when the Senate refuses to uphold the rule of law, as it did two-years ago, it damages itself. So, in addition to unconstitutional Executive Orders, which are intended to circumvent Article I, Section 1 of the Constitution, Clinton's agencies are now spewing out regulations demanded by the Big Unions and the radical environmentalists. Neither Clinton nor these agency heads have any fear of thumbing their noses at Congress. None.
"The Clinton administration is expected to issue workplace safety regulations next week that are vehemently opposed by business groups and that defy congressional Republicans, whose concern about the rules was a stumbling block to an agreement on a final federal budget."
It goes on, "The new rules have been pushed by organized labor, which helped deliver millions of voters for Democratic candidates in Tuesday's election."
On August 25th, the Washington Post reports: "Mindful that Republicans could occupy the White House in less than six months, the Clinton administration is working feverishly to issue a host of new regulations supported by environmentalists and other liberal-leaning groups opposed by many business and industry organizations."
We have government by fiat. And there's nothing the Senate can do about it right now, due to its own lack of resolve during impeachment. That was the key moment when the rule of law was rejected. And now Bill Clinton and his party are emboldened. There's little to stop them from what they're doing. What are we going to do? Impeach Clinton again? Remove him from office? Of course not. He's an unchecked president now...
