You can order one from Gateway (with SDRAM) or Micron (with DDR) and get it in a week or so.

The main thing was to get enough of them out to make it clear that P4 was a loser. And that mission has been accomplished.

It's kind of like when Intel shipped a handful of coppermines to take the wind out of the sails of AMD's Athlon launch. AMD learned its marketing lessons from Intel, and has proven to be an excellent student.

PS - AMD will be shipping parts with 3 times the performance of the Athlon 1GHZ next year. Will P4 be at 4.5GHZ by then? Cause if it isn't....
