PNG: Gas pipelines will fire up the industry, says expert - Australian Financial Review, Nov 15

The Australian Gas Association convention has been told of huge natural gas sector growth up to 2020. John Powell, project director of the Papua New Guinea (PNG) to Queensland gas pipeline project, told the Canberra seminar of his vision for growth.

He said a vast network of pipelines will link every big Australian capital city with massive offshore gas reserves in the south, north and west of the country. Linking with the PNG pipeline, the network will ensure fast growth in the industry, with the fuel likely to have almost one-third of the Australian energy market at 2020. Powell says only excessive regulation will stifle the sector.
