Milo,

One thing that sealed it for me was the RC5 benchmark. In all integer performance, that should take advantage of the double clocked ALU (running at 3 GHz) Athlon beats P4 better than 2:1

Athlon 1.2 GHz 4.37
Pentium 4 1.5 GHz 1.98

I have to say that I expected (or was afraid of) a much much better performance. It is truly a disappointment. The only bright area is the huge bandwidth, but the processor is so weak that it doesn't know what to do with it.

For an AMD shareholder, this is a very good day. A big relief. Intel has tripped up again.

Now add to it the postponement (or cancelation) of Almador chipset, and I have to say that now not just Rambus, but Intel CPU design team are our friends.

Joe
