Dear Tastes Like Chicken: Thanks, but I am sure there are many like me on this board. We know the sacrifices made so on behalf of this country. I can tell you right now, not ONE OF US ever forsaw that we were fighting to allow assholes like Gore and Daley to manipulate our elections. We were all young and idealistic and we believed in a Free Democracy. While we were irritated at the publics lack of support (ESPECIALLY JANE FONDA) for us, we accepted it as part of being Free. BUT, had we thought what is happening now was happening I dont think we could have taken the heat, the mud, the filth, exhaustion and the lack of sleep, not to mention the dangers and fear we endured. To even QUESTION a military ballot in my opinion is THE FINAL STRAW.
Since you live in S. Florida, you know what the voting machine actually looks like and actually does. I've seen the machine too. Imagine counting a chad that is not a chad; it's still a piece of the card, because you've decided that the person that failed to vote actually meant to vote, and you know who he meant to vote for.
I took this out of your post cause I want to comment on the voting machine. When you go in to vote there is a PIN similar to one a Diabetic uses to punch a hole for a blood sample. This pin is very sharp, and believe me, anyone who wishes to PUNCH A HOLE in that ballot is not going to have any trouble doing it. True, a chad may remain, however when you pull the ballot out they likely would fall off as you pull it throught a slot. But, even then, they tell you to check and make sure all chads are off. In spite of all that I have no problem with counting HANGING Chads, but NO WAY IN HELL is a DIMPLE a vote. JDN |
