Shelia--

I think you still have some voters in WI using Votomatic. I found a reference that 7% of Wisconsin voters are still using punch-style ballots (Wisconsin State Journal on-line or the Sentinel?) and I saw some film footage on CBS of voters in WI standing at Votomatics. Most of the state apparently uses optical scanners.

I spent many years in a punch-style municipality that sent out paper absentee ballots. From the post CB found it sounds like at least one county in FL has developed a punch-style absentee ballot. Oh Gawd...An improvement? It sounds confusing from what the absentee voter who wrote the post described.

Yeah, I understand the registration process in WI is pretty loose and that's bad. They also have no/open? party state primaries. I think some of this derived from the state's history of progressive reform politics which is now quite dead, yet the myth persists.
