B: Asante Presents FriendlyNET 16-port 10/100 Switch; New High-Performance
Switch Delivers Best Value for Office Networks

SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov 20, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Asante Technologies, Inc.
(Nasdaq:ASNT.OB) today announced the release of FriendlyNET(TM) FS5016, a
16-port switch with dedicated network bandwidth of 100 Mbps per port, or 200
Mbps in full duplex mode. At $21 per port (estimated street price), the
FriendlyNET FS5016 is the lowest cost-per-port of any Asante 10/100 switch.

Asante's line of FriendlyNET 16-port hubs and switches perform as great as they
look. With elegant translucent and low profile case designs, connecting Macs and
PCs into a high-speed network is as simple as plugging in a few cables. With big
performance in a small footprint, the FriendlyNET 16-port hubs and switches
provide both performance and flexibility at an affordable price.

Improve Network Performance With 16-Port Switch

The new FriendlyNET FS5016 10/100 switch automatically negotiates network
bandwidth up to 200 Mbps per port (full duplex mode). For modern networks
handling larger documents or files, the FriendlyNET FS5016 switch delivers
superior performance at a great price.

"Any office with workgroups moving huge files across their network will find
that the FriendlyNET FS5016 is the ultimate choice for a 16-port 10/100 switch,"
says Rusty Callahan, Vice President of Sales at Asante. "The FriendlyNET switch
allows traffic to move quickly from port-to-port, without slowing down other
users on adjacent ports -- eliminating potential network bottlenecks and endless
waiting," Callahan added.

Affordable FriendlyNET 16-port 10/100 Hub

Each port in the FriendlyNET FH316 hub automatically negotiates the fastest data
rate (up to 100 Mbps) for maximum performance. Internally the hub logically
connects all 10 Mbps devices onto one network segment and 100 Mbps devices onto
another network segment. An integrated 10/100 switch bridges all devices on both
segments together.

"Our Extended Range technology allows anyone to seamlessly integrate the
FriendlyNET FH316 hubs into any network infrastructure," says William Hang,
Product Manager at Asante. "With the Extended Range feature, users can connect
100 Mbps devices and up-link the FH316 with another switch or hub up to 100
meters (328 feet) away, which is twenty times further than competing 10/100
hubs," he added.

Pricing and Availability

Both FriendlyNET 16-port 10/100 hubs and switches are now available:

FriendlyNET FH316 16-port 10/100 Fast Ethernet hub
99-00639-01, with a $189 estimated street price in North
America (NAESP).

FriendlyNET FS5016 16-port 10/100 Fast Ethernet switch
99-00640-01, with a $339 NAESP.
