Ike, Gore has been blamed for everything that Clinton did. The Republicans have been extremely unfair to him. He was known as Mr. Squeaky Clean before he became Vice President. There were no blemishes in his long history of public service. The Republicans get a lot of money from the wealthy and big corporations and always outspend the Democrats. It is more difficult for the Democrats to get the financing to mount a real challenge. Gore got caught up in the financing mess. That is all they have ever really been able to point to legitimately, but they have made him appear to be a sleazy character who has done nothing right. As I have said before, I voted for Nader because I feel we desperately need a third party. But what we need more than anything else in this country is campaign finance reform. My personal feeling is that George W is an opportunist with no real values one way or the other. He will go with the side that promises him the most personal gain, in my opinion. Aside from that, I feel he is a mental light weight who will embarrass the country. That is my personal opinion from my years of watching him in Texas. The spin is attempting to make it seem that Gore is trying to steal the election simply by asking for an accurate count. I believe the case should be made that Bush is attempting to steal the election by trying to thwart an accurate count. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
