Mark- IMO, and very generally speaking, it's one of those Walmart type ideas. They undercut competitors by 50% but make it up in volume. I was taken by surprise that it only costs less than $2USD/hr to get connected. Maybe they raise the rate considerably higher during the height of the tourist season?

As far as your general question about where does the money come from for upgrades to the network? Well it comes from where it always has- $600 BILLION(of which greater than $200 billion is generated in the USA) in worldwide annual telecom service revenues. A figure that I have yet to see any analyst say is going down instead of up.

When some analyst comes out and clearly shows this figure dropping, then I may give in and also believe it's the end of the world. -MikeM(From Florida)
