MM, during a bear market, cash levels in mutual funds grow. Also, retail money fund assets plateaued starting in 1999. It's the institutional money fund assets that have grown. This, of course, corresponds with higher MF cash levels.

Sure, it could fuel a market surge. But MF managers are more likely than retail customers to sit out rocky periods in the market. I'm inclined to believe that before this bear market is over, many of the positives will be simply disregarded or ignored. We certainly are not at that point yet. It will be a value investor's paradise sometime in the next year or two. JMHO.
