Not Liquid Smoke. I usually use too much of it. Good Smoky Bacon browned in the bottom of the pan 1st could help provide the smoke flavor. I usually deglaze with garlic and onions. Honey after the water is added to the pole beans.

I'm using the Gas Grill today with some soaked Hickory chips on top the lava rocks. We have a pork shoulder on the Gasser now. Rubbed 1st with the Dry Rub & slathered with BBQ sauce and fatty side up after searing the Rub on. It's sittin on the top rack now on the side of the Grill that's turned off. I'd use the smoker but it's snowing here. The aroma is .... wonderful. Seems to go well with the snow.

I'll have to fire up the smoker soon to do some salmon for a Salmon Cream Cheese Log.
