Could you explain that Intel has been dissatisfied with SVGL scanners? I wasn't aware of this. From what I've heard, Intel has developed in house techniques which allow them to improve the resolution of their micrascan II machines, which already are considered fairly advanced machines. ASML I think has projected similar numbers of DUV steppers to SVGLs micrascans, so I don't think availability would be better, which was the only complaint I knew of. Intel would appear to me to have a substantial investment in SVGL equipment, but then, they can afford to spend some money if they need. Whether Intel wants to switch vendors I'd very much like to know. A takeover by Intel would surprise me since it's not been their sort of business.. yet.
