Whether he was a democrat back then isn't the point. He IS a republican now! I'm white but trying to look at it objectively, the republicans have not been the minorities' best friend. The democrats at least tried. Now they pander to every whim and pamper the weak among us. This isn't right either. Like I said, the republicans need an image that says they are not just for the white male. Unfortunately, pro-choice, pro-gay etc seized upon the opportunity to get the democratic favor and by doing so negated real minority issues. I guess in simple terms all I'm saying is one group doesn't really do anything and the other helps anyone that is classified as underprivileged whether they deserve it or not.
