Com Dev Wireless Selects Electronics Manufacturing Group To Manufacture SMT
Wireless Products For Its Global Markets
Companies sign strategic outsourcing manufacturing alliance
CALGARY, Nov. 20 /CNW/ - Dallas-based COM DEV Wireless, a division of COM
DEV International (TSE:CDV), and Electronics Manufacturing Group Inc., (CDNX:
EMY), today announced a long-term manufacturing agreement whereby EMG will
provide SMT (Surface Mount Technology) board manufacturing including parts
procurement, production and final assembly for COM DEV Wireless' 900 MHz, 1800
MHz and 1900 MHz Low Noise Amplifier products.

The manufacturing contract is valued at (Cdn) $1.7 million for the
remainder of 2000 and is expected to grow to approximately $6M annually.
Production will be based at EMG's Calgary headquarters and leverage the
company's existing supply chain and manufacturing capabilities which include a
recently installed Universal 4796 HSP turret-style Chipshooter.
Previously manufactured in-house at COM DEV's Moncton facility, the
company decided to sub-contract surface mount production of these products to
EMG, enabling its in-house surface mount production team to focus on
prototyping and smaller production runs.
