Hi Qwiksand,

Some of the tech problems are high-interest rates, some of the tech problems are energy prices (esp. in Europe) in a world-wide oil shortage that is getting worse.

Some of the tech problems, however, are well-deserved and would be ugly in ANY market. HWP & INTC are prime examples. But then again so are all the PC stocks. An internet-cleanup was inevitable. No surprises there. We'll see plenty of consolidation and re-grouping. After that the internet companies will move forward with new momentum.

I don't know if you've noticed, but companies usually start making big bucks AFTER all the excitement, shouting & screaming have died down. All the "new" ideas become old, boring & universally accepted. Everybody buys the product with a yawn and the company cleans up.

Not everyone is missing: SUNW,CSCO,AMAT (to name 3) had blowout quarters.

In my view the REAL problems are geo-political in nature. As leaders of the free world, the US MUST project an image of complete and reliable stability. These worldwide markets are mostly OUR markets and we need to protect them by having boring, reliable, intelligent professionals at the helm of our government.
