Albert,

100k is almost nothing for intel. If the number would be that low then the prices would likely be much higher than for current mid range.

I just looked at Dell prices: dell.com
and also at P3 based.

It appears that stripped down PCs with 128 MB RDRAM minus monitor are:
P3 1.0 GHz $1,350
P4 1.4 GHz $1,700
P4 1.5 GHz $2,000

I believe I got the equivalent configuration. From this, it looks like the premium for 1.4 GHz P4 is $350 and premium for 1.5 GHz is $650.

Something fishy is going on here. The prices based on these premiums over 1 GHz P3 almost agree with Price Watch prices: $450 for P3 + $650 premium for 1.5 GHz P4 = $1,100 which is the Price Watch price I thought Dell was getting a huge discount.
