Greg,
re: deceit and treachery and noble and honest
I was pulling your leg when I wrote the "noble and honest" BS. I think both sides have acted purely out of self interest in this mess, with no regard for the country or the integrity of the system. But I believe throwing "deciet and treachery" stones from either side is a glass house thing.
WSJ articles can be neutral, their editorials are to the far right of Rush Limbaugh.
Totally hypothetical: If there was a new vote today, and the selection was Bush, Gore or Clinton, who do you think would get the most votes. My bet would be on Clinton. And my guess is that whoever wins this election, the other party will get the House and Senate in two years, and probably the Presidency in four years. And if Bush wins, we could very well get the other Clinton next time around.
I vote for both Reps and Dems for local and state offices, this year the Presidency was a coin flip. If I had it to do again, I wouldn't vote for either candidate, but they would probably find a dimple and count it for one or the other anyway.
