<<The commercial importance of this particular well cannot be determined at this early stage of the drilling and evaluation process.>>
Help me read the tea leaves, if you would. Yesterday's PR, from which the above quote was taken, says nothing about flowrate. Normally, isn't flowrate reported? SFY also noted, "the well encountered a significant kick or pressure increase" Any vacuum cleaner salesman worth his salt knows that pressure differential without flowrate is a meaningless figure of merit. I would hazard a guess that it's unlikely they would report a "significant kick" from, say, 10 barrels of oil per day equivalent, but I'se a city boy.
Is this PR a strong positive indicator (in which case I presume the disclaimer about commercial importance is there to keep the lawyers happy)? If so, why no mention of flowrate? Finally, what is the signficance of this statement: "The decision was made to set intermediate production casing and perform an open-hole test, before drilling ahead to the Lower Tariki."?
TIA,
