Likewise I didn't watch it, so I defer to my wife. I respect her opinions, and certainly respect her ability to divine the leanings of the bench from their questions. For better or worse, according to her their questions indicated that they did not feel constrained by the wording of the statute and that they were trying to figure out what was "fair". A story from the 60's about noted liberal US Supreme Court Justice Douglass shows just how far we've come. According to the story, someone told him on his way to the court to do "justice", to which he responded that it wasn't his job to do "justice", but only to interpret the constitution.
