Actually, Frank, there are going to be more Democrats in the future, not fewer Democrats. Why do I say that? (1) U.S. military will continue to shrink in terms of manpower over the next 10-20 years. (2) The U.S. is becoming less white. 3 of 4 Hispanics voted for Gore over Bush two weeks ago; about 12 out of 13 blacks voted for Gore over Bush. Look at how the voting patterns have changed in California in the past decade. Also look at New Mexico, which, because of its large Hispanic population, broke out of the solid GOP West and went with Gore. The GOP, if it wishes to remain a viable political party, will have to move to the left and to the center on many issues in the next four to eight years.
