Gore is ahead in the popular vote by a narrow margin. He has not won this inconsequential prize yet.

Bush won 32 states, a margin of 14 over Gore. But this too is inconsequential.

Both men pursued the electoral college vote and designed their campaigns thusly. This is all that should matter.
