I have to disagree with you on the 2nd item. Have you ever attended a NYC public school? If ever there was a case for finding alternatives and gutting vested interests you will find it here in NYC. The NYC public school system will not function well no matter how much money you dump into it. I'd teach my kids at home before I'd send them to one of those schools. If I was a poor minority from one of the neglected neighborhoods I'd be sick to my stomach. But I think financial resources have only a little to do with it.

It's pure socialist decay - lack of choice, lack of competition, lack of high standards, no ability to measure successful allocation of money etc...

No solutions on my end, but I have a long list of problems that more money won't solve.
