NEON halved after downgrade
--2:11 pm - By Tomi Kilgore
New Era of Networks (NEON: news, msgs) is cascading $10, or 50 percent, to $9.88. Volume is about 15 million shares, which is more than 12 times the daily average. Wit Soundview analyst Benjamin Sim downgraded the stock to a "hold" from a "strong buy" on the the quality of license revenue it recorded during the third quarter. Sim pointed to the company's 10-Q filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Nov. 14, in which it said it had invested $5
million, and committed to invest and additional $3.9 million, in equity securities "of five companies with technologies or products that are complementary to our own." The filing also states that license revenue recorded included revenue from partners "in which we have made private equity investments or from whom we have purchased, or committed to purchase" software and services. A company
spokesperson was not immediately available.chris
