kenneth(btw, i know ur long nt but are u long cien also?), there is no doubt that NT is a quality company and have excellent products, but a substantial amt of their rev's derived from old legacy equipment that are being phased out by many carriers...anyway u look at it, NT shouldnt do as well as a pure play such as CIEN, who isnt carrying the baggage...CIEN just getting into the metro mkt and their rev's will run up sharply...they are taking mkt share away from NT...while the xros optical switch will be an advance, in the future, their potential of 1064X1064 ports will not be nearly enough...think about it, the narrowest channel spacing currently being sold is fujitsu's product(using avnx technology), which splits the lambda into 176 channels...in the future, it will easily be 1000-10000 channels...avnx has already demonstrated 1000 channels/lambda in the lab with their powermux product, which uses a fabry inferometer technology, rather than awg or bragg gratings...the xros product is not a pure optical switch(although they claim this)...nobody has a pure optical switch yet...in the future, a pure optical switch without data load limits will be needed to allow the internet to run smoothly and effortlessly...jmo.
