Joe, The PR scheme would ultimately defeat Athlon, the way it defeated Cyrix when Cyrix was a contender. The PR scheme worked great for Cyrix, and it kept them in business for a couple of years. Cyrix downfall was a very weak FPU, and a microarchitecture which did not scale up in frequency as quickly as P6. Scumbria
